Think of "skills" as downloadable expertise modules, you install them once, and your AI assistant automatically applies the right knowledge at the right time. Once installed, your AI gains specific specialized knowledge: Vercel's React and Next.js performance optimization guidelines (40+ rules from Vercel's own engineering team), web accessibility and UX best practices (100+ rules), React Native mobile development patterns, and the ability to deploy your project live to Vercel with a single conversational prompt like "deploy my app." The deploy skill is particularly useful, it auto-detects your framework (Next.js, Vite, Astro, and 40+ others), bundles your project, pushes it live, and returns a working URL plus a "claim link" that lets you transfer ownership to your own Vercel account. No manual deployment steps needed. Installing is a single command. After that, the skills activate automatically when they're relevant, if you ask your AI to review your UI for accessibility, it uses the web design guidelines skill without you having to think about it.
