Terms of Service

Use ExplainGit reasonably.

What ExplainGit is

ExplainGit generates plain-English explanations of public GitHub repositories. Popular repos are pre-cached; the rest are generated on demand for signed-up users, with a free quota of 5 analyses per UTC day per account.

Account rules

Generated content

Explanations are generated by AI from public README content. We don't guarantee accuracy. Read the actual repository before making decisions based on the explanation.

If you spot a factually wrong explanation, let us know at [email protected] and we'll regenerate or remove it.

Liability

ExplainGit is provided as-is with no warranty. We aren't liable for decisions you make based on explanations, generation errors, downtime, or third-party services we depend on (GitHub, Anthropic, Cloudflare, Migadu).

Termination

We may suspend accounts that abuse the service. You may close your account anytime by emailing [email protected] (see Privacy → Deletion).

Trademarks

GitHub is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. ExplainGit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft or GitHub. ExplainGit reads only public GitHub data via the documented public API.

Changes

We'll update these terms when needed. Material changes will be notified by email to active accounts.
