Use Case Writer is a Claude AI skill built for business analysts and product owners who need to write formal Use Case documents. It guides Claude through scoping, analyzing, and writing Use Cases in English Markdown, following the well known 13 field template associated with Karl Wiegers and the IIBA, and drawing on practices from Alistair Cockburn's book on writing effective use cases. The project was created by Phuc NT for BA Zone, a Vietnamese community for business analysts and product owners. It exists because writing a good Use Case is harder than it looks: analysts often scope a Use Case too broadly or too narrowly, use vague actor names instead of specific roles, bury decision logic inside the main flow, forget failure paths, or confuse preconditions with business rules. The skill enforces discipline by scoping the Use Case first, generating it section by section with checkpoints along the way, and validating the finished document against a 20 point checklist. It supports four modes of use: writing a brand new Use Case, splitting a large feature into a list of smaller Use Cases, refining an existing Use Case, or writing just one specific section. Users can chat with it in Vietnamese while the final document is still produced in English, and it ships with two full example Use Cases from an education technology product to show the format in practice. The skill is distributed as a folder of files, including a main SKILL.md file that Claude loads automatically, along with reference documents and a template that are only loaded when needed. It can be installed globally for use across all projects in Claude Code, installed inside a single project, uploaded into a Claude.ai project as knowledge, or simply pasted at the start of a chat as a one time instruction. It is released under the MIT license.
