This is a status page you view in a browser, to replicate it for your own project you fork Upptime and enable GitHub Actions and Pages.
This repository is a public status page for OpenBB, a finance platform. It lets anyone see whether OpenBB's websites and services are online and working at any given moment. Right now, it tracks five things: the main OpenBB website, the terminal documentation site, the Bot Platform, OpenBB Pro, and the Pro Backend. As of the latest update, all of them are up and running. The project is built on a free, open-source tool called Upptime. Instead of requiring its own server or a paid monitoring service, Upptime runs entirely through GitHub's built-in features. It uses GitHub Actions to automatically check each service at regular intervals, recording whether the service responds and how fast it replies. When something goes down, it creates a GitHub Issue as an incident report. The status page itself is hosted on GitHub Pages, so the whole thing costs nothing to operate. This setup is specifically useful for OpenBB's team and its users. If you rely on the OpenBB Terminal for financial data and it seems slow or unresponsive, you can check the status page to see whether the problem is on your end or theirs. The page shows uptime percentages over the past day, week, month, and year, along with response time graphs. For instance, the main site is currently responding in about 114 milliseconds, and its all-time uptime sits at 99.91%. What is notable here is the tradeoff: by using GitHub's free infrastructure, OpenBB gets a capable monitoring setup with no ongoing hosting costs. The limitation is that checks only happen as often as GitHub Actions allows, which may not be as frequent or customizable as a dedicated paid service. For a company already invested in open-source tooling, that is a reasonable balance.
