ns_t3af, also called AI Foundation, is an extension for TYPO3, a content management system used to build and run websites. It lets AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and other AI tools connect directly to a TYPO3 website so they can read and write its content, rather than requiring a developer to build custom connections by hand. The extension turns a TYPO3 site into something AI tools can talk to natively, using a protocol called MCP. Once installed, tools such as Claude Desktop or Cursor can read and edit pages, content, and other site data directly. It comes with over 100 pre-built tools covering things like page content, search engine optimization, translation, and media handling, and it can automatically detect other installed extensions and turn their data into usable tools as well. The extension also manages connections to multiple AI providers at once, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google's Gemini, and locally run models, letting you set spending limits and fallback ordering for each one. There is a permissions system built on top of TYPO3's existing user groups, so an agency or team can give junior staff or freelancers limited, safe access to AI features rather than full control. Other features include detailed usage logs showing which model was used, how many tokens were spent, and the cost of each AI request, plus the ability to run AI actions like rewriting content or generating alt text across many pages at once. However, actually using it requires a license key: a free key works for development and staging environments, while live production websites need a paid commercial license that is sold per domain per year and includes support and updates.
