This repository contains a skill file for AI coding assistants that helps researchers write academic papers in management science and operations research. A skill file is a set of instructions that tells an AI assistant like Claude Code or OpenCode how to behave when you ask it to help with a specific type of task. Once installed, the skill guides you and the AI through a five-stage process for writing a complete research paper draft. The stages follow the structure of a typical MS&E paper: first choosing a topic and identifying what is new about it compared to existing work, then building the mathematical model, working through proofs and analysis, designing numerical experiments, and finally assembling all the pieces into a full manuscript. The AI produces draft text for each section as you go. The skill is specifically tuned to the conventions expected by 13 academic journals in the management science field, split into two groups by prestige. The top group includes Management Science, Operations Research, M&SOM, and Production and Operations Management. The second group includes journals focused on transportation, decision science, supply chain, and industrial engineering. Each journal has its own profile in the skill files covering what reviewers expect and how to structure the paper. Installation involves copying the repository folder into the skills directory of whichever AI tool you use. The skill format is compatible with Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, Cursor, and Windsurf. Once in place, the assistant activates the skill automatically when you describe a task that matches its scope.
