MinUI's Simple Mode is a feature that simplifies the handheld's interface by hiding the Tools folder and replacing the Options menu in-game with a simpler Reset option. The minui-simple-mode.pak project is a small app that makes it easy to toggle this mode on and off directly from the device, rather than having to manually edit files on a computer. MinUI is a custom software you can install on retro gaming handhelds to replace their default operating system. Normally, turning on Simple Mode requires connecting the device's SD card to a computer and creating a specific empty file in a specific folder. This app automates that process. Once installed, you just open the Tools menu on your device, select Simple Mode, and confirm. To turn it off, you hold the R2 button while the device boots up. This is useful for anyone who shares a retro gaming handheld with children or less tech-savvy family members. For example, if you have a Miyoo Mini Plus or a Trimui Smart Pro running MinUI, you might want to let a kid play games without worrying about them accidentally changing system settings or deleting files. This app lets you switch the device into a kid-friendly mode right from the device itself, then switch it back to full mode when it is your turn. One thing to note is the tradeoff around convenience and safety. If you use the "force enable" option by pressing the X button, turning it off later requires connecting the SD card to a separate computer to manually remove a file. The standard enable method can be reversed by holding the R2 button during boot, but the force method is a more locked-down approach for situations where you really do not want the mode disabled easily.
