SketchForge is a free tool that connects Cursor, an AI coding assistant, to SketchUp, a 3D design program used by architects and interior designers. Instead of manually building furniture, room shells, or wall geometry inside SketchUp, you describe what you want in plain English inside Cursor, and the AI writes Ruby code that builds the geometry live in SketchUp as you watch. The project was created by an interior designer for other designers, and it comes with presets tuned for Indian residential projects: room sizes like a 10 by 10 bedroom or a 14 by 16 master bedroom, plus a material palette matched to rendering tools such as D5 Render, Enscape, and Twinmotion. There is also a library of tested prompts for lighting setups, such as cool white or marble finishes with cove lighting, and a set of copy paste prompts so team members without any Ruby programming knowledge can still ask the AI to build rooms. Setup is aimed at Windows users running SketchUp 2025. You clone the repository, run an included PowerShell install script, then open the project folder in Cursor. A bridge plugin called SkAgent connects SketchUp to the AI so that generated code executes directly inside the SketchUp session rather than requiring manual copy and paste. A quick connection test script confirms the bridge is working before you start building. The repository bundles and configures two existing MIT licensed open source projects: one that teaches the AI good practices for SketchUp's Ruby scripting API, and one that provides the live bridge between SketchUp and outside tools.
