What do people build with it?

USE CASE 1

Install the brain skill and ask it to evaluate a product decision using Elon's first-principles framework, getting responses cited from the book.

USE CASE 2

Install just the first-principles-thinking skill from the pack to trigger during code reviews or architecture discussions in Claude Code.

USE CASE 3

Use the founder-go-nogo recipe to walk through whether a new business idea passes the mental models before committing resources.

USE CASE 4

Add the hiring mental models (recruit-for-exceptional-ability, retain-only-special-forces) to your interviewing workflow in Claude Code.

In plain English

This repository packages the thinking style from "The Book of Elon" by Eric Jorgenson as a set of Claude Code skills. When you install it, you can ask any decision question about founding a company, engineering tradeoffs, hiring, product strategy, scheduling, or risk, and get an answer shaped by 72 named mental models attributed to Elon Musk, backed by citations to actual book passages. The repo ships two products from a single source. The first is "the brain": one large Claude Code skill that loads the full book text plus all 72 mental models at once, answers questions in a blunt and physics-first voice, and combines multiple relevant models when a question touches several areas. The second is "the pack": 72 individual Claude Code skills, one per mental model, so you can load just the lens you want for a specific task like a code review or a hiring decision. Each of the 72 mental models is a directory containing a skill file with a book quote, an explanation of what the model captures, when to apply it, step-by-step instructions with citations, common failure modes, and when not to use it. Trigger-test prompts with assertions validate that each skill fires correctly. Installation is a single copy command: unzip the release artifact and copy the elon folder into your Claude Code skills directory. The full book text ships inside the package for the AI to reference. Build scripts let you rebuild either artifact from the source skill files. This is for founders, product leaders, and engineers who want Elon Musk's decision-making frameworks available as a named, citable skill inside their AI coding or reasoning workflow.

I've installed elons-brain. I'm deciding whether to build a feature in-house or buy a third-party solution. Apply the relevant Elon mental models and cite the book passages.
Prompt 2
Using elons-brain, apply 'best-part-is-no-part' and 'delete-line-of-code' to this module I'm reviewing: [paste code]. What would Elon's engineering instinct cut?
Prompt 3
Walk me through the founder-go-nogo recipe in elon/recipes/founder-go-nogo.md for this startup idea: [describe idea].
Prompt 4
I want to fire the 'attack-the-constraint' mental model from elons-brain. My main bottleneck right now is [describe]. What does this model say to do?
Prompt 5
